carried by love

Exchanging all you carry for a love that carries you

We all carry too much stuff: the lies we believe because we just don’t know any better and the junk we won’t part with because it’s become a part of us somehow.

In the beginning, humanity exchanged truth for a lie. (Genesis 3:6-7) This pattern has continued for generations. We exchange truth for lies which lead to the junk we all carry around with us. This exchange that takes place within our minds is toxic, harmful, and quietly killing us. (Romans 1:25)

But, Someone intervened.

In a perfect display of limitless love, God changed everything. He sent Truth into a fractured world to initiate a reversal.(Romans 5:8)

Jesus came, with arms stretched out in love, to remove the poison of sin and undo all the harm and resurrect everything lifeless. (John 1:14) His arms were nailed wide open to a tree. A perfect display of the permanent covenant God signed in His own crimson blood. (John 3:16)

He opens our eyes so we can recognize the destructive lies that lead to death. He made it possible for us to exchange everything we carry for truth that leads to life. (John 14:6)

As hard as we try, we cannot make this exchange happen on our own. We need Jesus every moment of every day. It starts with a new heart. God puts His Spirit within us and changes us from the inside out. (Ezekiel 36:26-27)

Love fuels the exchange.

Jesus reverses our death sentence by giving us new life- a full life. (John 10:10) Eternal life will be ours when He returns, but abundant life is ours right now.

Maybe you’re hearing this good news for the very first time. Maybe you trust that what Jesus says is true, but the whole idea of a relationship with Him is new to you. Maybe you’re leaning into His embrace and living the abundant life. Maybe you’re somewhere in between. Wherever you are, there is room for you here.

Jesus invites us to sink deeper and deeper into this story. Truth has the power to transform both our hearts and our minds. I hope you’ll join the conversation about life and hope and love.

Love is strong enough to carry us all.
